One Big Pixel
The goal of this project was to present a designer and their work in a narrative document. I chose the influential design legend April Grieman and found the solution to present her through the environmental design of a small space. An installation that embodied her and her work to the fullest.
Design of Pixel Walls
The Final output was a 6 x 6 box, based on the arm span of April Grieman, with two solid walls and two window walls that you could see through to represent the idea of personal and public space. The red heat lamp and white sand were used to created a feeling of warm from the desert which opened her eyes to the process of evolution, to growth, to change. The use of light colored wood was in reference to desert drift wood and was aided to push concept further.
On the Machitosh there was an Ipad display in which people could interact with MacPaint and get an idea of the trade tools of the time. (use MacPaint yourself Here!)
Construction of the Shell
After the shell was constructed it was disassembled and moved to be installed and move into application of the design elements seen above
